Becoming a barber is like becoming any other professional
rich in skills. It needs proper
training, adept knowledge, imagination to create unique styles and courage to
take certain risks.
The first thing in becoming a barber is interest. A keen
interest is needed in the field so that various prospects can be gone through.
A formal and a proper training is needed. Such trainings are a part of the
curriculum of a barber school where one can get admission and pursue the course
as per the timeline. Some of the curriculums are of three years and others vary
for one year or less.
In the school you learn various aspects of hair cuttings for
men and women, different hairstyles especially for wedding, different hair color
systems comprising the permanent and the temporary hair colors, hair rebonding,
smoothening, candling, spa etc. you should have enough knowledge to give advice
for hair weaving and implants even.
The purpose of training is to build up various skills and to
bring out the hidden talents in a person so that the next cut you make is
always perfect. You also learn how to
talk and understand your customers. You learn how to comprehend what exactly
they want and to give them advice on what suits their face type the best. You
learn to comply with your customers till the last.
Once
finished with the school training, you need to practice in a shop or open your
own saloon which will bring you close to your profession and you will be
answered the question “How do I become a barber”. But if you tend to open your
own roof, you need expert barbers that might reduce your workload and provide
with greater manpower once your work catches speed. You need helpers and
cleansers. You need equipments and the most important, the chairs. Once all
fittings have been done, all you need is proper advertisement and marketing
strategies. Once your work has started, you can employ more people according
the needs. Once a barber, you earn depending upon the kind of hand you have.
Skill is what counts at the end.
